Wednesday 19 August marks the United Nations World Humanitarian Day (WHD), a day which aims to celebrate humanitarian work around the world, and this year the spotlight is on Humanitarian Heroes – people from all walks of life, committed to making a difference.

In honour of this day, we’ll be celebrating our Humanitarian Heroes via social media.

We’ve seen the impact that safe surgery and anaesthesia has for families and communities in low-resource settings, and it’s clear to us that the support and commitment of colleagues around the world is humanitarianism in action.

Follow our week long WHD series starting on Wednesday 12 August on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as we spread the word that safe surgery and anaesthesia are fundamental health and human needs.
