Next steps #SaferSurgeryEthiopia

Lifebox has a long history in Ethiopia, having worked in the country since 2011 – supporting anaesthesia providers with essential monitoring equipment and the skills to deliver safer care, so we’re thrilled to continue this work with our colleagues in the Amhara region.

This workshop will see 94 anaesthesia providers – including a graduating class – receive essential training and lifesaving equipment.

Building in-country anaesthesia capacity is key to Lifebox’s work – local partners have supported our Lifebox Ethiopia Fellows in delivering quality improvement projects, and are vital to the development  of Clean Cut^® – our surgical site infection reduction programme currently piloting in Jimma, in the South West.

With a train the trainer course on day one, the Bahir Dar workshop will also contribute to supporting locally led anaesthesia education and practice. This new faculty will go on to share their skills and knowledge as experts in their communities, ensuring that safer surgery and anaesthesia training has an impact far beyond the workshop walls.
