#WHA69: from resolution to reality
In 1980, the WHO Director-General made that speech.
In 2015, after decades of work, surgery and anaesthesia reached the World Health Assembly agenda for the first time – and got a resolution.
Lifebox was in Geneva last year with an insider’s guide to watching the votes roll in, and we’re back at #WHA69 this week: continuing to advocate for safer surgery from the frontline to the Palais.
With major projects from Cambodia to Cote d’Ivoire, video headlines on Al Jazeera and Radiodiffusion Television Ivoirienne, the launch of Clean Cut and of course our fifth birthday celebrated across the 11,000 oximeter milestone, it’s been a busy year in between!
But there’s so much left to do. A WHA resolution is an extraordinary, urgent global statement – and in many ways less binding than a parking ticket unless we work together to make the words a reality.
Thank you to our colleagues and partners around the world – the hospitals and universities, classrooms and boardrooms, frontline and online teams who are working to do just that.
And thanks to you! We wouldn’t be here without your support.
We’re committed to safer surgery and anaesthesia for every patient, every time. You can help.
