The Capnography Project

The Smile Train-Lifebox Capnography Project aims to close the capnography gap in low resource settings.

This article introduces the Smile Train-Lifebox capnograph. It highlights the methodology used in its selection, the development and pilot of an educational package to accompany device distribution, and plans for impact assessment. It has been a collaborative process involving many individuals and organizations committed to improving perioperative patient safety. It is hoped that this article will not only reiterate to the global community the need for capnography in many areas of the world, but also provide a plausible solution.
